Assistive Technology

The purpose of the Assistive Technology (AT) Project is to provide assistive technology devices and services to people with disabilities. Access is available to people of all ages as identified in Maine’s approved state plan for assistive technology. The specific goals of C.A.R.E.S.’ AT Project are as follows:

To provide device demonstrations to disabled veterans and clients of the State Vocational Rehabilitation and Independent Living Services Programs.
To provide technical assistance to the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation on policy and resource development of AT devices and services.
To provide public awareness activities regarding AT.
To continue collaborative activities with state and national assistive technology programs.

Funding for the AT Project is provided by Maine CITE which is funded from the Rehabilitation Services Administration through the Maine Department of Education.
